A stalwart three-season tent from Mountain Hardwear, the Light Wedge 2 is easy to set up, rugged enough for any 3-season excursion and roomy enough to "hang" in on those days of truly foul weather.

  • There are 2 mesh ceiling vents and one rear vent to encourage air flow and prevent condensation
  • The stout rain fly has a clear window for weather-watching

Decent tent, but flawed.

Pros:
Comfortable, Easy To Set Up, Fly Works Well, Lightweight, Waterproof
Cons:
Broken pole
Best Uses:
Backpacking, Hiking
Describe Yourself:

Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I got this tent as a Christmas present 2 years ago. I had asked for an MSR Hubba Hubba but they were out of stock at our local outfitter and they recommended this one.

The tent is light enough at around 5 pounds for 2 people, but it is certainly no minimalists gear. The clear window on the front clouds with wear and sun exposure and probably weighs more per sq. foot than any other piece of the tent.

I really like the gear loft that the 3rd pole creates inside and the zippers and doors are quite functional. It's rainproof and the fly keeps the wind out nicely.

The biggest drawback and the reason why I gave it one star is because of the poles. I just had my second one break over this weekend and I find this unacceptable. Luckily I had a splint, but I've lost all confidence in this tent and I'm considering replacing it.

I expected better from Mountain Hardware.

Great Three Season Tent...maybe 4 season
By Climber4life from Wheeling West Virginia on 10/30/2006
Pros:
Comfortable, Easy to set up, Large area covered, Very Versatile, Warm, Wicks water well
Cons:
For two large people, Little Heavy for the Size, May be a bit small
Best Uses:
Backpacking, Car Camping, Climbing, Day trip, Hiking

This is my first backpacking three season tent. I have used it over a dozen times in West Virginia, and Kentucky weather...it Breathes generously in the summer due to the mesh and stops rain and HIGH winds in the winter and fall. If anyone ahs ever camped in WV you know it is wet...I was dry all night long and extremely comfortable in this beautifully made tent! I have camped in it with temperatures as low as 10 degrees...and was warm as a baby in his blanket! LOVE THE TENT! Mountain hardwear fan 4 life!

Buy with Confidence
By Finn Alley Hiker from Sitka, Alaska on 8/1/2006
Pros:
Color not obtrusive, Easy to set up, Good detail, Great head space, Well made
Cons:
Floor space tight, No external loops on fly, Rainfly heavy ( a plus)
Best Uses:
Backpacking, Hiking

Used on Chilkoot. It did very well...shed rain and wind and kept out bugs. It is a little heavy for size but this is not a major flaw. It should have external loops of fly to help stabalize in high wind.

It setup and took down in a snap. Well built!

It is a very good tent for the money
