Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

This stuff is almost miraculous. You can cut it to any shape you need, and it will stay stuck for as long as you need it, even when it gets soaking wet. I've used it on both torn clothing and partially melted gloves (yes, I got them too close to the fire), and it has never let me down.

Questionable quality

Pros:
Easy to set up, Waterproof
Cons:
Flimsy Construction

This product was easy to apply and looked great!... until the black outer layer of several different pieces just came off after a couple uses and NO washes. I used them on my ice climbing pants and gaiters. After a few days on the ice, I looked down and had big white splotches on my pants and gaiters where the patches were placed. I believe what's left of the patches continues to be waterproof, but they sure don't look good.

1) Set your iron on medium (check the garment's instruction tag first!) and place the patch on the inside.
2) Rub the patch in a circular motion from the center, outward toward the edges
3) Check it after one ironing and look for adhesive at the edges, signifying that the iron was hot enough and you melted the adhesive
4) Get some Seam-grip (415020) and seal the outside rip with a thin coat

I have one patch that's lasted over five years of three-season abuse on a G-tex jacket. This works.
