Great bag, you will not regret owning this bag. I just wish it could be worn as a backpack (if it had two shoulder straps). I really like how small it scrunches up even with a 60m rope inside.

I mainly climb outdoor and indoor sport. After only one outing, I already would prefer a thicker strap--as it becomes a little uncomfortable.

The size of the tarp is amazing--fits rope + some.

It's a great way to carry and manage ropes, particularly for craging and sport climbing. Open it up and climb, when finished drop the rope in the bag, repeat the process. Of the other bags I've seen, I like this one best. I don't use it when weight or packing space is an issue however.

I am getting started in climbing and wasn't sure what to buy and what not to buy. I bought this bag because it was one of the least expensive ones available. However, I am very pleased with it. so far it has served me well. I would recommend it to other people wanting to get involved in the sport of climbing.

This is a great bag. Well designed, sturdy, seems durable. It's my first rope bag, so don't have much to compare it to. Love the large fly for setting up rope and gear for the day. Compression straps make for a nice small, easy to transport bundle (60m rope). For the price it's hard to beat.

This bag is probably the best investment you can make to extend the life of your rope. The huge pull out tarp is awesome for rope protection and management. Metolius also added metal clip locks now instead of the old plastic ones so the bag is much more durable. Best investment I have ever made.

nothing short of master about it!!!
By guy is normlVerified Purchaser from Gooding, Idaho on 7/14/2007
Pros:
Compact, Good UV resistance, Lightweight, Strong
Cons:
A more durable tarp
Best Uses:
Great for short climbs, Indoor, Outdoor
Describe Yourself:
Avid Climber, Green climber
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Overall, this ropebag is an essential piece of climbing equipment. I like the metal buckles on the outside and the tarp's 4'x5' area makes it nice to stretch or to keep other equipment out of the dirt. I suppose the thin nylon used for the tarp could use a second look. Maybe if it was layered or a stronger, heavier fabric was used.

Very handy for packing my rope out of the gym. I've only gotten this bag outdoors once so far, but it worked quite well out in the dirt. It takes very little time to pack up a rope, and carries well.

Great inexpensive rope bag
By BorisVerified Purchaser from Oregon on 8/14/2006
Pros:
Big tarp pull out, Light Weight
Best Uses:
Casual

This is a great bag for the price. Only thing that would make it better would be a backpack type strap. Instead of the sling.

bag-o-goodness
By camrunnerVerified Purchaser from dallas, Tx on 5/19/2006
Pros:
Takes a beating
Cons:
Single strap to carry
Best Uses:
Casual

They make the best rope bag on the market period. If only this one had a double strap for more of a backpack style for comfort would it be better. Well worth the investment to keep all that dirt out of your new rope you just got!

By far, the best one made!
By Falling JeffVerified Purchaser from Chattanooga on 4/24/2006
Pros:
Replaced plastic buckle with metal
Cons:
Ice climbers won't like the metal buckle, Needs a longer shoulder strap
Best Uses:
All around use

Best on the market, for the price. Metolius FINALLY replaced those plastic compression strap buckles with metal. Great for rock climbers, durability counts. We'll break anything!

The best. Period.
By redpoint73 from boston, MA on 3/7/2006
Pros:
Packs easy. Sturday
Cons:
Nada
Best Uses:
Sport climbing, cragging

Simply the best rope bag you can buy. Sturdy, with tough packcloth and alloy buckles. Also has a nice padded strap for carrying independently.

Large tarp, easily rolls your rope into the bag. Just roll up, pull the drawstring and buckle. No zippering, and pulling multiples drawstrings like the BD Slacker.

Compresses your rope nice and small, with a minimum of fuss.

Plus, the Ropemaster is cheaper than the inferior Slacker.
