Kept my head warm in cold weather and 40 mph winds while climbing Mt. Rainier
I have bought this same hat 3 times and expect to buy another shortly (sadly I seem to have trouble holding onto hats). I live in northern VT & use it regularly for skiing, hiking, etc. in mild weather as well fridged winds & sub-zero temps. And I'm not alone. I have noticed this hat has turned up in many photos in serious outdoor publications [...].Unfortunately, the hat has an odd shape - it is just a little too tall for it's diameter. While it fits fine around my head, it stands up kind of high. When this bothers me I just roll up the bottom of the hat a little and I'm content. But it's light, windproof and warm. My choice for ultralight packing as well as general wear.

I'm so sorry that it doesn't fit my son as it was exactly what he wanted. I will return this week with regrets. He was going to use it for his Army Ranger School training - it would have been perfect. Thanks anyway.
A note on micro domes: advise not placing in dryers. They shrink and lose tightness resulting in ride-up, etc. May want to handwash (and with an Earth-friendly detergent, please).
Versatile warm hat. The seperate fleece and Windstopper liner make it fit better and perform better than laminated fleece. The Windstopper ear patches protect your ears, but can block your hearing, but this can be overcome by rotating the hat.
light but warm, it protect my head against chili winds. I also sleep with this ''dome'' and is very soft and confortable.

It's a straight forward combination of PolarTec lining with a Windstopper outer fabric. That's exactly what I was looking for and it's what I got! Great fit, though the way it's sewn creates a bulky look on top of your nugget! A good purchase for a warm, all-use, wind-proof, medium insulating hat.
If it's cold outside, I have this thing on. Even if there is no wind, it keeps my head nice and toasty. And when there is wind, well, the top of my head couldn't tell you. You can't feel the wind but you can feel the heat staying inside. It also stays nice and tight around my big ol head.
Only down side is until I get it stretched out some, it tends to ride up exposing my ear lobes.
Unfortunatly , it was too small and I had to give it away.
