Hats are like glasses; beware of the fit
By Pablo.Verified Purchaser from Salt Lake city, Utah. on 4/18/2007
Sizing:
Feels half size too big
Pros:
Warm
Cons:
Bulky
Best Uses:
Extreme Conditions
Describe Yourself:

Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Good material, very warm, but the fit is a little to egg-ish like. I don't believe any body that is not "coonhead" has this shape of head.

Nice and toasty
By Fresh Fruit from Portland, OR on 3/31/2007
Sizing:
Feels half size too big
Pros:
Warm, Windproof
Best Uses:
Cold and windy conditions
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

This hat can't be beat for cold and windy weather. Although the sizing is a bit funky; the medium was too small and the large is a tad big. So try it on before you order it. Additionally this beanie (and other windstopper hats) muffle sound making it hard to communicate sometimes. But I will take that any day over having a cold head.

I have had one of these hats for two years and my wife borrowed it and had to have one. This hat is perfect to always have in our windy section of Montana. I can carry it my pocket or pack and i fits nicely under the parka hood and even blocks the wind on its own. Great hat.

Just a tad on the large size. Not enough to size down but it is a little snug under the helmet.

Great Winter Protection
By Marc AdamusVerified Purchaser from Corvallis, OR. on 9/19/2006
Pros:
Durable, Warm
Best Uses:
Camping or Hiking, Extreme Conditions

This must be the best Winter hat I've owned for sheer protection from the elements. Thick fleece, a wind liner and full coverage ear-band make this a great choice for skiing, mountaineering, and cold weather adventuring outdoors. My only complaint? Design. It's not the most aesthetic hat due to an unusually large crest atop the back of the hat. I don't know if they designed this thing for people with very bulky hair styles or what, but even with the hat pulled completely over my ears (and I have a big head), there's still significant room up top. That said, it's really a minor point and the hat offers otherwise excellent performance.

Don't judge a book by its cover
By J. "I don't get out enough" P.Verified Purchaser from Worcester, MA on 2/16/2006
Pros:
Durable, High Quality, Warm
Cons:
Look like a cone head
Best Uses:
Winter mountaineering, outdoor drinking

Aside from looking somewhat like a spin-off of the Coneheads, there's nothing negative I can say about the Dome Perignon. The Windstopper with fleece liner is a very warm, comfortable hat. A little bulky to wear under a helmet, but for bopping around the backcountry I give it two thumbs up.

the hat of all hats
By TONY THE TRUTHVerified Purchaser from NYC on 2/14/2006
Pros:
Durable, Good Value, High Quality, snug fit warm and well made
Best Uses:
cold winter days

we just had a nor'easter in new york, and this hat kept me warm and ready for long hours of shoveling!!

Warm and Big
By Flyin' Low-Climbin' HighVerified Purchaser from Cambridge, UK on 2/9/2006
Pros:
Compressible, Warm
Best Uses:
Alpine/Winter Adventures

[...] The only downside is mine is bright blue, but otherwise it's a great hat! It's thick, soft, comfortable, and best of all it's warm. Certainly a hat for chilly days in base camp or for any other occasion you really want to stay warm. It contains more insulating material than other simple wind-stopper hats.
