Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I purchased these gloves for skiing nearly exclusively and they're perfect for it. I have not had the chance to use them in extreme cold temperatures, but they are definitely warm enough for anything over 15 degrees F where you are staying active. You can also where them without the insert where they are still comfortable, grip is better, and they are just about right for spring skiing. I found the fit to be spot on.
