I really enjoy this lightweight piece of gear. It works great under a helmet since it is so thin. Great for chilly bike rides, cold days blasting down the slopes (and climbing back up them). It is thin enough that it breaths well and if your really huffing and puffin you can pull it down around your chin then pull it back up once you’ve taken your hands off your knees. It fits loose so it doesn’t restrict your movements. All around it is handy to have once the temps drop below 0.

I ordered this item to snowmobile and ski with in Colorado. I was outdoors up to 4 hours at a time in zero degree weather with wind chills near -20. I feel I pushed this thin Balaclava to the max with these temperatures. It performed extremely well. It fit under my snowmobile helmet very well and held up to some extreme windchills. I highly recommend this product if you are looking for a very lightweight balaclava. With conditions warmer than I tested this one in, it will perform extremely well. Smartwool definitely did their homework on this product. It is very soft and comfortable to wear all day long.
