I bought hat because I was covering my visor and clothes with 100% Deet, but the bugs kept coming, aiming for my eyes, and biting forehead. I tried everything that came on the market, and was very skeptical, but I needed a good sun hat, so I had nothing to lose. I did not use any Deet near my face, and the awful swarms of gnats kept their distance. This hat made a difference. With strap pulled taut at back of hat (not under chin), the hat stayed on even in a strong breeze and when bending over. I am very impressed for the 3 times I have worn it in garden.

This is a great hat. My husband bought one and I liked it so much that I decided to get one too. I will be using this for hiking and a backpacking trip this summer. I'm not sure how well this will ward off bugs, but I'm optimistic from other reviews I've read. It offers great protection from the sun and looks decent too.
