Lightweight and warm. Unfortunately, the fabric is so flimsy that it tears just being near sharp stuff. Wore 'em on Denali; they're good for around camp, sleeping and snowshoeing up non-technical stuff. Crampons, and snowshoe edges will destroy the cuffs. Don't even think of wearing these things through alder or stiff brush. Bring tape for fixing on the fly.
I have yet to find a pant that meets the same niche need for the price of the Chugach. They went to the summits of Denali and Aconcagua with me, with a merino wool thermal underneath, and a shell over top, and they were amazingly warm, comfortable, versatile, water-resistant, and cheap to buy. I cannot find a suitable replacement for these pants now that they've been discontinued. I want the Chugach back, not another pant on the market now for [$] more than these.
These are great pants for the price. They are very warm and pack down well. The full length side zippers allow for venting so that you don't overheat while engaging in activity. My only complaint is at the waist. They provide a zipper in the front, but no snap or buckle closure. This makes them a little obnoxious to put on and take off, but overall they are a nice piece of gear.
Very warm pant. works well in camp when the temp drops and fleece just doesn't cut it. the size seems off though. i feel like the legs are too short on my large. felt the same with the windstopper tech. MH needs a large-long in they're sizing. pants could use a better waist tie as well. the drawstring keeps slipping when i bend over. otherwise not too bad.

Ripped the leg zipper out within a few uses, brand new pants now worthless. Does not fit well over gaiters and is a tight fit over pants, doesn't function well as an over pant. The velcro tabs on the waist had to be resewn after ripping out on the first use. The pants are a nice idea but poorly executed.

I have been climbing the Colorado 14ers in winter. Since I got these I have left my wind pants at home.
They're made for guys so maybe that's the reason I felt like they were sliding down. Suspenders would have helped in my case.

I've had my pants for a few years - there much better than fleece, lighter, more stuffable, just as warm. Just bought my daughter her own pair as we prepare for a weeklong snow camping / backcountry trip where lite weight, warmth and packable are key.
