One of my friends has this same jacket in brown and loves it, but there was no way I was going to pay [$]for it so when it went on clearance, it was still more than I wanted but I figured I'd never get it cheaper. It's a good jacket that keeps you fairly warm and cuts down on the wind. I do wish it was a little cheaper, but not much I can do about that

it isn't as wind resistant as i had imagined which is alright since the weather in georgia isn't very cold. very comfortably fitting jacket with room for the base-layer you will need if you are in extremely cold conditions. looks great. i get plenty of compliments. did well in the rain. grab one if they aren't sold out.

Could be a little warm, but overall a sweet jacket. We'll see how long it lasts, and the red hot is a great color.

The fit, finish and comfort level of this jacket are top notch. I want to love it and I try to wear it as often as I can because I love it. However a standard fleece is actually warmer in the wind than this jacket is.This jacket is COLD! The windstopper fleece is very thin. I would rather this jacket have pit zips instead of the non windstopper fabric that lines the armpits and sides. Its a great idea in concept but doesnt work for me in practice. this jacket is a mixture of windstopper however where the pit zips would traditionally be there is a breathable panel which is not windstopper. In the wind I can feel the heat being sucked right out of those areas. Yes, probably what they are designed to do and what they are there for, but to call this jacket a windstopper jacket may put someone in danger because it selectively blocks the wind based on where the panels are located leaving you no way to regulate. I also found the windstopper fleece to get a bit clamy. I am sorry to say that I will be leaving this one home on my Cho Oyu bid next month.

Only fleece you need
By o duh doo dah dayVerified Reviewer from the great northwest on 3/24/2006
Pros:
Comfortable, Lightweight, Tough
Best Uses:
Backpacking, Car Camping, Day trip, Hiking, Mountaineering

This is the piece of gear that I wear the most for both it's fit, functionality, versatility & great looks. Since I bought this a few years ago, I never wear any of my other pieces (Patagonia R2, Patagonia R4, Patagonia Alpinfur, MHW Alchemy, Marmot Adamant, Patagonia Mixmaster) My favorite piece of gear. The Link and a shell are the only pieces you need for any combination of weather conditions from mild to severe. A+ garment!

Pros:
Confortable, Great fit, Lightweight, Tough
Best Uses:
Hiking, Mountain Biking

Great light weight jacket/shell. Versatile extra layer or outer garment. Windstopper fabric is great and the stretch panels are well placed. The design of the cuffs keep out cold, wind or snow. Nice touch. Sizing was good. At 5'8" and 170 lbs I'm sometimes between a medium and a large and this jacket fits me perfect.

great jacket
By MacadoodleVerified Purchaser from Columbus, OH on 1/31/2006
Pros:
Durable, Good Value, High Quality

This jacket fits me PERFECT. I ordered the Sapphire color [...] and it looks really nice. Not only does it look nice, it does what it is supposed to do (stop the wind). I would say this jacket runs a tad on the small side, as I purchased an XL (I'm 6'0ish 190 lbs) and it fits good. I usually am in between Large and XL , but this XL fit great.
