The best fleece jacket out there. An extremely warm jacket that has some trouble with the wind, but still the best jacket. It is so soft and when it is cold, you can put up the neck snuggle your neck into the collar. Great pockets and features. The best jacket for college: A must have, casual wear, camping, and any other use. Bad for anything involving lots of wind.

One of the best jackets I have ever bought. It's beautiful as well as comfortable and warm in the winter. I like the underarm vents for the warmer days.

Winter Classic
By Old Man Winter from Spokane, WA on 9/7/2006
Pros:
Breathable, Durable, Warm
Best Uses:
Casual Wear, Hiking and Camping, Sports Wear, Travel

This classic fleece is ideal for any cold weather use except windy situations. It doesn't contain a wind blocking barrier, but that is a benefit if you need more breathability. The Polartec fleece is far better than any wind blocking fleece for breathability and it's not designed to stop wind. It's an insulating mid layer or a great outer layer. A wind blocking fleece is a much better performer for high wind, but will leave you clammy if you pick up the pace.

They last forever
By Snowman from Olympia, WA on 2/22/2006
Pros:
Lots of pockets, Tough
Cons:
Bulky, Not windproof
Best Uses:
Day trip

Based on this jacket, North Face definitely deserves its reputation for quality. I just purchased my second, but only because I wanted a new color. My original one that I bought several years ago is still in good shape. It's got great storage and is well designed. My only real complaint is that on really windy days, it's not much protection.

I also find that they run a little bit big -- I'm usually a size small and the small size doesn't fit as snugly as I'd like. I'd still recommend this jacket highly.

Good looking, long lasting
By Neil from Chicago, IL on 1/4/2006
Pros:
Durable, High Quality
Best Uses:
Casual

I have owned one of these jackets for 5 years. It has gone all over the world with me and it has not had any damage other than a button snap at the wrist breaking. It also makes an excellent pillow when rolled up! I also think that its look doesn't go out of style.

Bottom line: this jacket is worth the somewhat high price, and is great for casual use.

Good for casual use
By GautamVerified Reviewer from San Francisco, CA on 12/14/2005
Pros:
Durable
Cons:
Bulky under a shell
Best Uses:
Casual

This jacket looks great and is very well designed. I'm just not sure when to use it. It doesn't stop the wind at all, so it's not great for wearing out on very cold days. It's also a little bulky to wear under a shell during outdoor activities. I would recommend it for someone looking for a good-looking jacket that would only be used for casual use in moderate fall weather.
