The warmth of a down jacket without the bulk, Mountain Hardwear's Sub-Zero Vest uses the natural warmth and compressibility of goose down to hold heat in close to your torso while still leaving your arms free to grab that ledge, work the ski poles, or make morning coffee.
  • Highly durable and extra-warm, 650-fill goose down drapes softly around your body to reduce air pockets and stuff down small
  • Go ahead, trudge through the trees - ripstop nylon shell won't cut or abrade while the nylon taslan shoulders take the brunt of the abuse
  • Seal in the warmth and seal out snow - one-handed hem and lower back drawcords can be easily operated without taking off your mittens
  • Dual zippered, fleece-lined handwarmer pockets, 1 zippered chest pocket and 1 interior zippered chest pocket keep small items handy
  • When the weather is warmer, pack your vest away in the included waterproof stuff sack
  • Average weight: 1 lb 1 oz
    • Insulation: 650-fill goose down
      • Shell fabric: Conduit SL
        • Lining fabric: Nylon taffeta

Fantastic to keep warm at all times. High quality. I have asthma and chemical sensitivity - I can reliably use mountain hardware products. I bought one for myself and have just bought two more to give to other members of my family.

After reading the reviews for the vest it was everything I expected and very warm. The fit is slightly larger than other MH products I have including fleece vests, coats and shirts. Of course it's bulky in the way you'd expect a warm down vest to be and that's a good thing.

Great inexpensive down vest
By C the cold intolerantVerified Purchaser from Durham, NC and Bear, DE on 5/25/2006
Pros:
Durable, Lightweight, Warm
Cons:
Rides up somewhat
Best Uses:
Cold Weather

This is a great vest. I was deciding between this and the NF nuptuse vest. This one was much cheaper, looks better, and I've been very happy with it. I use it as a single piece when it is cool/cold (40 - 50s). I'm from FL, so I'm not very cold tolerant. It has 1 inside concealed pocket, two nice lined handwarming pockets, and a chest pocket. This item also stuffs nicely into a stuff sack.

Excellent product provides good service
By John the old far_Verified Purchaser from Northern Nevada on 1/20/2006
Pros:
Lightweight, warm and well designed
Best Uses:
Backpacking, Being twins when it's cold, Car Camping, Day trip, Hiking

Very positive experience. Served well as an outer layer in moderately-cold conditions. Liked the extended shoulder design.
