I was snowshowing in harsh condition; Pants were great; never felt the wind or cold even when I was standing in the snow. The reinforced material over knees is great when hicking in thick wooden area. As for the lenght that I rated too long, it might just be because I am too short... Same MHW quality I was used to in the past.
I really swear by MH products but these pants are made of some sort of chaffing material on the inside and the windstopper feels like cardboad to.And the fleece is to thin to even call it micro I have to agree with talusfinder about the vecro patches on the waistband that are to large to fit comfortably under a pack belt all day to. And not good for layering either.
Great tech pants with full side zip and gore windstopper protection. Little on the expensive side but worth it.
I usually love Mountain Hardwear products, but have to admit I was disappointed in the windstopper tech pant. The fabric was not very dynamic, and seemed to work against me with every step. The side zip on the left side seemed to get snagged on the pocket quite often. There were some velcro patches on the waistband for suspenders, but as I was not wearing suspenders I found them to be quite abrasive and uncomfortable. Overall, I feel that the pants were way too expensive for what they offer.

Pros: warm, durable, comfortable waist belt, full side zips for good venting
Cons: My only complaint is that the bottom leg cuffs do not fit well over my double boots

I used these for a 6-day trip on Mt. Baker in early March. These pants kept me very warm when I needed them, packed relatively light and small, and had the luxury of full separating side-zips. Can be worn alone in dry weather, or udner layers for colder conditions.

When not lounging in this pant, I like to wear it as a mid layer under my Epic pant. Depending on your base layer, whether it be the featherweight or a heavier fleece, you can stay comfy in a wide range of temps. The side zips allow you to remove them without taking off boots or just cool off and the velcro hips allow for the perfect fit. The only downside is the pants don't flex like a dynamic fabric would, however the Alchemy pant fills that void well.
