I am not a fan of North Face products, I guess I've had bad luck with them, but these shorts seem to be what I have been waiting for for thirty years. When I was younger, I worked as a mountain guide and wore wool knickers a lot, I love that length of pant, and have been waiting for that style to come back. So far these pant-shorts are meeting my high standards. I am not quite sure why they put a waist draw cord in since they have belt loops also. The fabric may be a bit light weight for extended rugged use. So far three cheers for North Face.

Too long to be called short

These were more of a capri length than shorts so I returned them immediately. [...] I would say the capri pants are probably good quality, just never wore them. I have a lot of northface equipment and have never been disappointed, the low rating here is strickly on mountain gear customer service/return policy.

These "shants" shan't let you down. They are comfortable and they work great for rock climbing/bouldering, hiking, and the approach. They do fine in a light rain and are easy to pack.
