Installed the device easily in my garage several years ago and has been problem free ever since. Great success. I like the double line which give you the option of raising evenly and lowering any way you like, bow first, stern first or whatever. Locking mechanism is great.

Rope is too thin to hoist my kayak (50lbs) without hurting my hands, rope travel through mechanism is very coarse and I had to rig a complex mechanism to mount it to my ceiling to keep it from pulling out when I lift!

Not good for canoe/kayak

Doesn't work well for my Kayak - designed to pull the rope straight down from the pulleys - happens to be right where your kayak/canoe is located, so getting it high up is a pain.
