Even though it is two thin layers, it's extremely warm. More so than some down jackets. But if this was truly made for a kid, the sleeves should not be white since it can get dirty very easily and show up even more. The black jacket is shown on here as all black, but the jacket itself has white sleeves.

It came in a very small package which was surprising. But I'm happy with the prompt delivery and that space and packaging material was saved by folding the jacket neatly and as small as possible.
