Save space on your rack with the ultra lightweight and compact Verso belay device from Petzl - a simpler version of Petzl's Reverso 3 device without the anchoring loop and lock-release biner hole. Uses asymmetrical V-grooves that regulate the amount of friction on a rope according to its diameter and condition for Adaptive Rope Control.
I bought this device to replace my worn out ATC. I love that it has V notches and weighs less then a regular ATC. Yes, it was designed to work with modern single ropes (9.2 - 10.5) and fat gym ropes will cause more friction then you might be used to. However, I think it works fine when belaying a leader on a 11mm gym rope. And it works great when I'm outside using a 9.8.

Comments about Petzl Verso Belay Device:
i have used a few atc's but this one is a great piece. i used it for about 3 hours at an indoor gym, it doesnt work very well with large static ropes. 11mm. ropes dont fit into the grooves much at all, its more of a work out than belaying. im sure this device will work great on the crag with a smaller dynamic rope.
