Evolution can occur in leaps and bounds - as is the case with the waterproof, rock-climbing ready, sturdy Trango S EVO GTX boots from La Sportiva which won Backpacker Magazine's Editors' Choice Award in 2004.

While a breathable GORE-TEX lining keeps your feet dry from the outside in, your whole foot will be supported by the 3D Flex ankle that works in conjunction with your crampons when you're kicking steps or flat-footing your way across icy terrain.

Comments about La Sportiva Trango S Evo GTX Boot - Women's:

I wore these to summit Matterhorn in August 2015, and they were wonderful. The shank length allows the flex you need for climbing rock, but they still were a good stable platform for Grivel G12 crampons for the ice and snow. They show little wear for all I put them through, and they are surprisingly light. I wear the women's version because I have narrow feet for a man, and the reduced volume makes for a good fit.

Comments about La Sportiva Trango S Evo GTX Boot - Women's:

Have not used it for hiking/mountaineering - just walked around the house, up and down the stairs and decided to return the boots. Not even close to my favorite LOWAs. Very disappointed!

Comments about La Sportiva Trango S Evo GTX Boot - Women's:

These boots are just the right thing for summer mountaineering. They are light, nimble, very comfortable, required no break-in time and are a good fit for people with narrow feet. I lived in these boots for a month while scrambling around on glaciers, moraines and rocky islands in Antarctica (on the peninsula during the austral summer) and couldn't have been happier with them.

Comments about La Sportiva Trango S Evo GTX Boot - Women's:

These are my favorite mountaineering boots any time it's not too cold. They hold semi-automatic crampons well, even on WI3 technical ice, flex in the right places but not the places where you need stability, and required no break in time. They haven't leaked so far and I've had them more than a year and taken them through lots of slushy now (use gaiters of course).
