Comments about Black Diamond HiLight Tent - 1-2 Person:

I want to like single wall tents but the yellow (Epic?) fabric version of this didn't win me over. I meticulously seam sealed so it does not leak but the condensation was unbearable. Over several days of cold drizzle I had to frequently use a cotton face cloth, wringing it out(!) repeatedly to get the moisture off the walls before it pooled on the floor. Frost began on the interior poles and melted there first, dripping down into the corners. Even solo it's cramped for a "two" person but it does have some headroom. The thin floor requires a ground cloth for protection from bare ground. If you can avoid constant wet then maybe it could be useful for light, quick trips.

Comments about Black Diamond HiLight Tent - 1-2 Person:

I purchased the Hilight tent when it was made using the Epic fabric, so my review is about that version (fabric is yellow, not green). So far, I love this tent. I have used it in several frightening thunderstorms, complete with hail and snow. The whole time I spend quivering in my bag, but the tent held up great. I have also used it in winter, and experienced some condensation. The windows can be opened to improve ventilation. The tent is a bit cramped for two (a good size for alpine climbing), but palace-like for one. I spent several hours seam-sealing everything. So far so good. The fabric is a little lightweight and must be treated with care, though I think it is stronger than it feels. According to other reviews, I'd say BD should have kept the Epic fabric...

Comments about Black Diamond HiLight Tent - 1-2 Person:

read some good reviews so purchased it and carefully seam sealed myself before the weekend trip. after 6 hours of steady rain, it began to fall apart...seeping water, annoying condensation (although i kept the both vents open), and screaming wife...! Excellent against winds but terrible against rain. Improvised w a large, unbuttoned poncho as a rain fly. Good vestibule, however.
