    Lightweight versatile ice axe

Comments about CAMP USA Corsa Nanotech Axe:

The Corsa Nanotech is the ice axe to have with you on those climbs when you need to know you've got a 'real' tool for the more technical sections but want to be able to completely forget you're carrying the weight the rest of the day. Not only is it lightweight, but it also functions as a great multi-use ice axe. The shaft plunges well in soft snow making it a perfect ultra light walking axe, and you can still rely on it for effortless, quick, secure sticks in low-angle technical ice because of the sharp-biting nanotech steel. This axe also makes an excellent 'third tool' for the second member of a party to complement a full set of tools. On a new route up the west face of Patagonia's Aguja Guillaumet, we didn't know how much ice and snow remained up high after a few days of clear weather. The Corsa Nanotech was light enough to strap onto a pack and rock climb with all day, but still gave us the ability to deal with ice and snow adhered to the final 100 meters of the peak. It's enough of an axe to quickly follow short ice or mixed steps, but adds only a fraction of the weight of a second set of tools. If you are going to have one tool in your quiver for crossing and climbing the moderate snow, ice, and mixed terrain on most technical alpine routes, there is no better choice than the Corsa Nanotech **Blake Herrington is a CAMP sponsored athlete who tests the gear on alpine routes from the Pacific Northwest to Patagonia, then provides feedback for improvements or endorsements. This is one of many pieces of CAMP gear that have passed his test. Learn more about Blake by visiting the athletes section at [@]
