Comments about Omega Pacific Jake HMS Screw-Lok - Screwgate:

This biner feels solid and just behaves right when using it for belay and rappel. Might be a tad heavier than some others but worth it for piece of mind, which is especially good for a beginner who might need a little extra piece of mind.

Comments about Omega Pacific Jake HMS Screw-Lok - Screwgate:

I have been using one for these for about three years, and dont like using any other carabiner for belay. Its just big, and smooth. Also good for cliping all that loose stuff at belays on long climbs.

Jake HMS Screw-Lok: Big Fatty Locker

Comments about Omega Pacific Jake HMS Screw-Lok - Screwgate:

I've been needing a big fatty locking biner for a while, both to rappel from and belay with (also to use as a short anchor point when belaying from the top). This one fits the bill perfectly. I like the sideways gate opening, keeps the gate out of the way and makes for a really open "mouth" (easy for getting ropes/chains through). Nice rounded curve and edges give a smooth ride off the ATC. Looks good. Bomber. Only gripe: It doesn't make that nice "clicking" sound when you test the screwed-in lock. When I tell people they're on belay, I like to make that sound when testing that they're locked in, but this one doesn't make that noise.
