A massive monster, Metolius’s Magnum Crash Pad is a 4-by-6-foot behemoth that layers 1 inch of closed-cell foam with 2.
5 inches of open-cell with a another 0.5-inch base of closed-cell foam. But don’t worry, this tri-fold pad collapsed down for easy storage and is equipped with shoulder straps and drag handles for easy hauling.
* Carrying Configuration: Shoulder Straps
* Dimensions: 121 cm x 183 cm x 10 cm
* Fold: Tri-Fold
* Padding: 1" (25 mm) closed-cell top layer. 2.5" (60 mm) open-cell center. 0.5" (15 mm) closed-cell base layer
This is a killer Pad. I've been using it all summer hiking in and out of Rocky Mountain National Park. In my opinion the primary advantage to this pad is that it is, for it's size, considerably lighter than any of the competitors pads. So if you're making a short or super long trek to the boulders you will definitely notice a difference. Huge area when unfolded, but the tri-fold design gives it a very narrow profile for squeezing between trees and rocks much easier.
