Comments about Petzl Tibloc Ascender: a good replacement for large bulky ascenders. but it's use seems limited to just a few tasks that it does extremely well. if you are trying to go ultra light this is not the piece of gear for you go buy a set of prussic loops they're alot lighter and by far more versatile (mainly in that they are bidirectional) if you do not trust a piece of cord or you are not quite sure how to tie a prussic then go ahead and buy the tibloc Pros Cons Best Uses

Comments about Petzl Tibloc Ascender: This is a great little ascender. I love the fact that it is light weight, small, easy to use and very strong. It is not as easy to take on and off as other ascender, but it is a lot easier then prusik knots. Very easy to clean and maintain and packs away in a very small space. This biggest drawback is the sharp teeth used to grab the rope. Very good for static rope work. Pros

Comments about Petzl Tibloc Ascender: The Tibloc should be an essential part of any climber's or canyoneer's emergency kit. It's lightweight, tiny, durable, and can be used for both ascending ropes and rigging ratchet systems for self or partner rescue. For piece of mind, I carry two with me on all climbing and canyoneering adventures. Pros

Comments about Petzl Tibloc Ascender: This device does exactly what it it supposed to. Read the instructions and use carefully. It is designed for emergency use as an ascender, in that it may cause damage to the rope sheath. However it is small, light and will be handy in a pinch. Not for aid. Pros

Comments about Petzl Tibloc Ascender: This is one of those must have on hand items that has multiple uses taking up very little space on your rack or in your bag. I have only used it a couple of times, but will always take one or two with me from now on. Its just too lightweight and small to not have on hand and so easy to use for holding on the rope or hauling or ascending. It is sized for up to 11mm rope. I found that 11mm is a little snug but with the right carabiner (one that is not too fat) it will work. Displaying reviews 1-8 |
